Shopping Spree!

WALT: Write an exposition in the form of a competition entry.



TASK:
To write an exposition to persuade the competition judges into rewarding you with the $5000 shopping spree at JB Hi Fi.

1. Complete an entry form as a Pages document addressing the competition criteria.

2. Ask one your classmates to proof read your entry form.

3. Save and send your entry as a PDF to the competition judge.

WALT: Compile a shopping list to a sum of under $5000

TASK:
Congratulations your competition entry for the $5000 JB HI-FI shopping spree was successful and you are the lucky winner.

You must compile a shopping list displaying an image of your chosen items, their name, cost and an accumulative total and we will have the items packed and shipped out to you.

1 Visit __http://www.jbhifi.com.au__/ and begin shopping.

2. Open a Pages document and construct a table showing each item, its cost and an accumulative total. You must show your working out in your Maths workbook.

3. Check your working out using a calculator.

4. Save your shopping list in your Term 2 Maths folder.

Success Criteria:

  1. I have completed and sent my competition entry form.
  2. I have completed and saved my shopping list.

Happy Birthday!


Your Birthday is on this Saturday the 16th of June. Your parents are allowing you to have a birthday party at your house where you are inviting 10 friends for dinner on Saturday night. You will need to write an invitation to your party and organise the food that people attending your party will be eating.
You will be given the name of one classmate that will be invited to your party.
You will also be invited to one of your classmates parties in which you will need to construct a Birthday card for.

WALT: Write a text inviting people to a certain event.

TASK:
1. Construct an invitation on a Pages document inviting your guests to your party.
Your invitation must include:
  • Date
  • Time
  • Location
  • Correct Spelling and Punctuation

2. Ask one of your classmates to proof read your invitation prior to sending it off.

3. Once you have completed your invitation you will need to save it as a PDF and email it to the classmate that you have been given to invite.

WALT: Complete a shopping list sticking to an agreed budget.

TASK:
You need to go shopping and create a list of items that you will need to feed the people attending your party with a budget of $150.

1. Visit Woolworths online and identify the foods that you will be purchasing.

Remember that your guests will be having dinner on Saturday night and be expecting some party food as well.

2. Present your list in the form of a table that identifies the item you are purchasing, the cost of each item and an ongoing accumulative total.

WALT: Construct a personalised Birthday card.

TASK:
You will have received an invitation to one of your classmates birthday party.

1. You need to create a personalised birthday card to give to that person on their Birthday.

Things to consider for your invitation:
  • Themes identified via the invitation. Eg. Superheroes included on invitation. Birthday card could include Incredible Hulk.
  • Persons individual interests / hobbies.

2. Ask one of your classmates to proof read your card prior to sending it off.

3. Save you card as a PDF and email it to the classmate whose party you have been invited to.

SUCCESS CRITERIA

1. I have completed and sent out my invitation.

2. I have completed a shopping list that sticks to my budget.

3. I have completed and sent my Birthday card.
